Group Exemption Renewal

RENEWAL of the 501(c)(3) Group Exemption

NOTE: RENEWALS are mailed out each year in November.

If a club is included in the CGCI Group Exemption (see the list by clicking here) and wishes to continue to do so from year to year, the IRS requires that the club inform CGCI in writing that they wish to be included, once again, in the Group Exemption. Below are the requiremets that must be met:

Your club must:

  • maintain a description of the activities of your club in order to document that the majority of your club activities are educational
  • maintain a record of the sources of receipts and the nature of expenditures.
  • submit this information to CGCI by FEBRUARY 1 of each year.
  • have an authorized officer of your club give permission to CGCI each year, IN WRITING, that states your club wants to be included in the CGCI group exemption.
  • ALL THE ABOVE INFORMATION WILL BE INCLUDED ON THE RENEWAL FORM MAILED IN DECEMBER.

The Renewal form for 2009 (due on February 1, 2010) is available now.
